At a high level, traditional talk therapy often focuses on discussing thoughts, emotions, and experiences through conversation and reflection. ABA and ACT differ in that they are more action and goal-oriented approaches that use ongoing assessment, progress monitoring through data collection, and individualized strategies using single-subject analysis.
No! We work with many different children with a wide range of strengths, support needs, and experiences. We support children both with and without formal diagnoses, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Anxiety, and more.
Yes! We are currently in-network with Kaiser / Catalight Care Services. We also offer superbills for families using out-of-network benefits or private pay services. Please note that insurance coverage typically requires a formal diagnosis and medical necessity criteria determined by the insurance provider.
Yes! For Private Pay clients, we offer a sliding scale for both 'Parent Coaching' and 'Child Therapy with Parent Training'. While we do not currently offer a sliding scale for Social Skills Groups, we provide a scholarship spot every six months at a 50% reduced rate to help increase access to services aligned with our Community-Care value.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a therapy approach that helps understand the “why” behind a child’s behavior and how their environment, experiences, and responses of others may impact it. Using that understanding, we teach them alternative skills (that meet that same "why") to communicate their needs, manage emotions, build relationships, and navigate life more successfully and independently.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a therapy approach that helps children build psychological flexibility by learning how to manage difficult thoughts and emotions while acting in ways that align with their values and goals.
If PC4B KIDS is not the right fit for your child’s needs, we will provide recommendations for outside providers, evaluations, or alternative therapy approaches that may better address your child's needs. Our goal is to ensure families are connected with the most appropriate and effective support possible. It's not about us, it's about them.
If both parents share legal authority over medical or therapeutic decisions, both parents may need to consent for direct therapy services with the child. However, 'Parent Coaching' is a helpful alternative, as it focuses on supporting caregivers with tools, strategies, and guidance without directly providing therapy to the child.
No! We fundamentally believe that therapy should be provided by professionals who have dedicated years to their education and clinical training; including earning a master’s degree, completing a practicum, accruing over 2,000 supervised fieldwork hours, passing a board examination, and maintaining ongoing continuing education requirements.
Traditional ABA is one of the only therapy fields in which much of the direct treatment is commonly implemented by non-certified technicians rather than fully licensed or board-certified clinicians. Our model prioritizes direct clinical involvement solely from Board Certified Behavior Analysts.
